I know...I know...in the world of social networking like twitter, blogs just aren't cool anymore, right? Well every once and a while I want to share something that exceeds 144 characters, so I created SolamenteNiel, my blog. While I'm at it, I'm also going old school with a cheesy picture of myself on my blog. In this picture I'm pertending to be an IndyCar driver.
For me this is one of the most anticipated events of the year, andI wasn't disappointed one bit. Sure I would have preferred if an Andretti Autosport driver had won, but at least Marco got a podium finish. Here are the highlights:
I'm really starting to get pumped about the start of the Indy Car Series 2010 season (err...I should say the Izod Indy Car Series), but in particular I'm really excited about the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. I can't believe the race is less than three months away.
For the last two years the race has been one of my major photography events. Here's a flickr slideshow of my photos from the 2009 race.
The Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg came up during Christmas dinner, and my father-in-law mentioned that the American La Mans Series would not be racing in St. Petersburg this year. Apparently the news is a few months old, but I have verified that it is in fact true. While I wasn't a huge fan, after seeing it for several years with the Indy cars in St. Pete, I was learning about ALMS, and it was starting to grow on me. I will certainly miss ALMS this year.
